In 2010 here in the United States the Boy Scouts of America has celebrated 100 years of tradition. Troop 13 is committed to continue that journey for the next 100 years and beyond.
Troop 13, chartered by Saint Andrews Covenant Presbyterian Church here in historic Wilmington, North Carolina is one of the oldest in the area. The first Troop 13 Scout to be awarded the rank of Eagle was Marvin Allen in 1930. Since that time more than 185 Scouts from this Troop have been award Scouting’s highest rank.
Dedicated leadership and a strong drive for excellence in the Troop continue to produce the community, state, and nations leaders of the future.
Scouts not only learn skills from the program books but also experience the practical use of these skills in the real world. The Troop goes camping every month with different themes and attends two summer camps to insure that all Scouts have the opportunity to experience the full Scouting program. Troop 13 encourages the continued participation of older Scouts through High Adventure trips such as backpacking at Philmont and SCUBA diving at Florida Sea Base.
